Biography:
Gao Lan is a minor character in Luo Guanzhong's historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. He is a general serving under Yuan Shao during the late Eastern Han Dynasty.

Gao Lan first appears during Yuan Shao's campaign against Cao Cao. Specifically, he is present when Yuan Shao dispatches his forces to confront Cao Cao's army. He is recognized for his martial skill and bravery, though often overshadowed by more prominent generals under Yuan Shao's command.

During the Battle of Guandu, Gao Lan serves as one of Yuan Shao's key officers. He is eventually defeated and killed by Zhao Yun who serves under Cao Cao, marking the end of his relatively short appearance in the novel. Despite his limited role, Gao Lan is remembered as a competent warrior, adding to the ranks of the many figures who participated in the tumultuous events of the Three Kingdoms period.
